THE SOUTH at De La Warr

THE SOUTH are proud to be working this year with the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill. The De La Warr Pavilion, a spectacular modernist art gallery on the South East coast, is working with THE SOUTH to bring you writing workshops which feed into, and take inspiration from, the different art exhibitions on display.

Next on the agenda, to coincide with Unpopular Culture, the De La Warr’s upcoming Summer exhibition, we are presenting a poetry workshop with local hero Catherine Smith.

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Thursdays 19th June – 10th July (4 weeks), 6.30 – 8.30 pm
Unpopular Culture: A Poetry Taster Course with Catherine Smith
De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, £35

This new taster course, led by Catherine Smith, is open to all abilities and will use the Unpopular Culture exhibition as a stimulus for your own poetry writing.

Catherine Smith has published three collections of poetry - The New Bride, The Butcher's Hands and Lip. Catherine was selected as one of the 'Next Generation' poets by the Poetry Book Society/Guardian and her short stories and drama have appeared in various anthologies and on Radio 4. She is also a highly experienced creative writing tutor and teaches at universities and schools in the region.
