Alongside the seven special projected poetry commissions currently being developed for Project poetry! in 2003, THE SOUTH aims to provide outreach literacy support for personal, family and community development through propeller.
The basic idea is this.

A team including a literacy consultant, a poet or writer, an audio-visual technician and a support worker - arrive at a venue in a van with their kit to provide up to 3 hours of high energy edutainment in support of 16+ and adult literacy in line with local targets and priorities and regional strategies - and always in cooperation with existing bodies to ensure we provide the optimum fit to local need.
The core of the programme is poetry but produced, presented and promoted in powerfully different new ways using new technology, projection and audio-visual techniques.
The aim of the session will be to support the participants' own literacy goals, help them find their own voice, produce creative writing and find out where they can get the additional support they need from mainstream educational resources.
At the end of each season the best work will be published in an anthology produced by Pighog Press. Copyright will be retained by the participants. |
