A night of Irish words and music with special guests from Limerick Ciaran O'Driscoll, Mark Whelan and Robin Pamar and featuring Brendan Cleary,Tim Cunningham, Billy Ramsell and friends. Music from In Session plus dance, song and entertainment.
Ciaran O'Driscoll was born in Callan, Co Kilkenny, and lives with his wife and son in Limerick, where he lectures in the School of Art and Design at the Limerick Institute of Technology. He has published five collections of poetry, the latest of which is Moving On, Still There: New and Selected Poems (2001). He has also recently published a childhood memoir, A Runner Among Falling Leaves. In January 2000, he was awarded the Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship in Poetry.
Brendan Cleary has published four full- length collections of poetry, and numerous booklets, the latest being Jackson from Pighog Press. Originally from County Antrim, he now lives and writes in Brighton and is Artistic Director of THE SOUTH.
Robin Parmar works in sound art, poetry, performance, computer
programming, and radio. Appearances include the Banff Arts Centre
(Alberta), The Kooteney School of Writing (Vancouver, British
Columbia), and Cornell University (Ithaca, New York). Last Christmas
he won the annual Poetry Slam at the White House Pub, Limerick. In
2005 he was on the Irish team at the Hammer & Tongue International
Slam Competition in Oxford. Summer 2005 saw the release of Microphone
On, an anthology of one hundred poets, a book which he edited and
designed. He recently performed as escalation 746 in a three-day
sound installation, and as Tactile Surface in collaboration with John
Galvin. He will soon release his third CD. Born in England and raised
in Canada, Robin is now a resident of Ireland. He is available for
sushi tasting, audio mayhem, and highway openings.
